We're Looking For:
A Cardiac Sonographer - Medical Imaging Level 4
Your Role:
You will play a pivotal role in the day to day management of the echocardiography department at the Canberra Hospital Garran.
Your duties may include:
- Performing high quality echocardiographic imaging procedures
- Completing Comprehensive echocardiographic reports independently
- Supporting the Allied Health manager in their day to day operations
- Planning and proving educational frameworks
- Conducting research
- Support the echocardiography services onsite at North Canberra Hospital (when required)
Our Sonographers undertake and support advanced imaging including;
- Periodic adult congenital heart disease clinics
- Supporting Cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms
- Sonographer led transthoracic imaging in the cardiac catheter laboratories, in support of a structural heart program.
Key Criteria
- Proven ability to perform echocardiographic procedures independently, applying sound knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology for interpretation of the results and aligning the findings with the ASE guidelines to complete a comprehensive interim report.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to provide education, training and mentoring in the field of echocardiography.
- Proven ability to maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and safety for all echocardiography investigations and to initiate and contribute to quality assurance and quality improvement projects.
- High level organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, work, health and safety (WH&S) and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful and kind.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Applied Science
- Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (Cardiac)
- Accreditation with the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
- Be Registered un the Working for Vulnerable People Act
- Two page pitch addressing the key criteria and your suitability for the role
- Pre-employment National Police check.
Desirable
- Be eligible for memberships with Professionals in Cardiac Science Australia (PiCSA)
- Be eligible for accreditation with the Australian Council for Clinical Physiologist (ACCP)
